Remove any debris or refuse from the interior and exterior of the property.
Clear rooms of boxes. Boxes should be neatly stacked in the basement or a spare room away from walls and outlets.
Thoroughly clean the entire house. Be sure the lawn is mowed. Bushes and trees should be trimmed away from the house.
Try to have as many outlets as possible free of appliance cords.
Remove obstructions, knickknacks, etc. from windows and sills.
Empty sinks and appliances of clothes, kitchenware, personal items, etc.
Make sure attic and crawlspace entry entries are free from obstruction and accessible.
Notify your Realtor about or visibly mark any faulty plumbing fixtures, appliances or outlets. This action may prevent water or electrical damage from occurring during an inspection.
Identify any winterized systems.
Secure personal items in dressers or other furniture. Part of an inspection involves looking through the closets.
Perform a pre-list inspection yourself and make copies of your report available for potential buyers.
