The 3M™ Enrichment Pouch with 225 mL Lactose Broth is a heavyweight, puncture-resistant pouch ideal for many sample preparation and enrichment procedures.
- Gamma irradiated, ready-to-use pouch with 225 mL Lactose Broth requires
no mixing or sterilizing.
- Flat bottom, stand-up pouch ensures stability when adding samples.
- Wire tie holds top open for easy sample addition and closes pouch for
- Multi-laminate polyester pouch is puncture resistant.
- 2 year shelf life from date of manufacture provides long-term readiness.
Designed to meet stringent laboratory testing needs, this pouch has the
strength needed to endure sample preparation and handling processes.
Pre-measured with 225 mL of enrichment broth, the pouch is ready to use with no
mixing required. Just add the sample, homogenize to mix, then place directly
into the incubator. The broth and pouch are decontaminated through gamma
irradiation to maintain organism viability and long shelf life. The flat bottom
allows the pouch to stand on its own and heavy gage wire closure holds the pouch
open, allowing the technician to work with both hands. Once the desired sample
has been added, the open top is folded over itself and the wire tie bent over
the fold to seal. The multi-layer pouch is strong enough to use with a paddle
blender to effectively mix the sample with the enrichment solution. This product
is made in the USA with globally sourced materials and is ISO 9001:2008
certified for quality assurance. It is intended for lab use only.
Lactose Broth is often used as a pre-enrichment medium when testing foods and
dairy products for Salmonella spp. Salmonellaspecies
may be sub-lethally injured and in low numbers in dried or processed foods. The
occurrence of other bacteria as well as components of the food sample may deter
growth and recuperation of Salmonella. Pre-enrichment in a Lactose
Broth allows for repair of cell damage, dilutes toxic or inhibitory substances,
and provides a nutritional advantage to Salmonella over
other bacteria. Lactose Broth is widely used and is included in many procedures
for testing foods, dairy products and other materials.
