The 3M™ Enrichment Pouch with 225 mL UVM is a heavyweight, puncture-resistant pouch, ideal for many sample preparation and enrichment procedures.

Designed to meet stringent laboratory testing needs, these bags have the strength needed to endure sample preparation and handling processes. Pre-measured with 225 mL of enrichment broth, the pouch is ready to use with no mixing required. Just add the sample, homogenize to mix, then place directly into the incubator. The broth and pouch are decontaminated through gamma irradiation to maintain organism viability and long shelf life. The flat bottom allows the pouch to stand on its own and heavy gage wire closure holds the bag open, allowing the technician to work with both hands. Once the desired sample has been added, the open top is folded over itself and the wire tie bent over the fold to seal. The multi-layer pouch is strong enough to use with a paddle blender to effectively mix the sample with the enrichment solution. This product is made in the USA with globally sourced materials and is ISO 9001:2008 certified for quality assurance. It is intended for lab use only.

Listeria is a genus of bacteria comprised of ten species and is present in a wide range of unprocessed foods, soil, sewage, and river waste. UVM is used for the enrichment of the Listeria bacterium, enabling rapid detection in food and environmental samples. Listeriaspecies grow over a pH range of 5.0 - 9.6, and can survive in food products that have pH levels outside these constraints. Successful identification of Listeria is dependent upon isolation of the bacterium, biochemical classification, and serological authentication.
