Extremely sensitive dual range test strip measures both >600 ppm (mg/L) and >5000 ppm (mg/L) in less than 5 minutes.
VERTICAL SURFACES: Hold the test strip in one hand and, with the other hand, dispense one drop of Reagent A onto the oval window (aperture) of the test strip. Place the strip onto the surface to be tested with the aperture facing outward. Be sure that the strip is in contact with the painted surface, then apply tape across the oval window (aperture) to hold the strip in place, or see Comment 2 under "For Best Results". Now, continue with steps 4 and 5 above.
COMMENT: To confirm the presence of leaded paint in underlying layers of paint, carefully use a knife, razor blade, or sharp chisel to cut through the layers of paint at an angle. Likewise cut through the layers of paint from the opposite angle. Then, run the test in the cut-out area.
NOTE: It is recommended that if lead is confirmed, that proper precautions be initialed or that you contact your local health department for recommendations.
1. Choose a smooth surface that will maximize contact with the pad on the test strip.
2. If spots or splotches make the result difficult to determine, repeat the test using the inverted cap of the reagent bottle to hold the strip in contact with the horizontal or vertical surface.
