Lutron LX-113S Auto Range Light Meter, 50,000 Lux / 5,000 Foot-Candles, Separate Probe

The Lutron LX-113S measures illuminance from darkness up to 50,000 lux, or up to 5,000 foot-candles, and selects the correct range by itself — there is no range switch to get wrong. It reads in lux or foot-candles at the press of a button, and it remembers which unit you prefer, so it comes on the way you left it.

The sensor is on a separate corded probe. That matters more than it sounds: a light reading is only honest if the sensor sits where the work happens — flat on the desk, on the bench, at plant canopy height — and your body is not shading it. With a corded probe you place the sensor and read the meter from the side. The sensor itself uses a photo diode with a color correction filter whose spectral response meets the C.I.E. photopic curve, and it is cosine corrected, so light arriving at an angle is weighted the way the eye weighs it rather than over-counted.

Typical Applications

  • Workplace and office lighting surveys — verifying foot-candle levels at the task surface.
  • Home and building inspection, documenting lighting levels in stairwells, corridors and work areas.
  • Greenhouse, grow room and indoor horticulture — checking light at canopy height.
  • Photography, video and stage lighting setup.
  • Museum, gallery and archive conservation, where exposure must be held below a limit.
  • School, classroom and laboratory lighting checks.
  • Machine shop and assembly bench task lighting.
  • Parking lot, warehouse and security lighting verification.
  • Comparing lamps and fixtures before and after a retrofit.

Features

  • Three ranges — 2,000 / 20,000 / 50,000 lux — selected automatically.
  • Light sensor uses an exclusive photo diode with a color correction filter; the spectral response meets the C.I.E. photopic curve.
  • Cosine correction factor meets standard.
  • Separate light sensor on a cable, so the sensor can be placed at the optimum position while you read the meter.
  • Reads in lux or foot-candles, and the chosen unit is retained as the default at power on.
  • Zero key function for external zero adjustment.
  • Data hold function freezes the displayed value.
  • Built-in low battery indicator.
  • Microcomputer circuit provides high accuracy.
  • Runs on a single 9V battery.

  • Power supply: one 9V (006P) alkaline or heavy duty battery.
  • Power consumption: approximately 5 mA DC.

Ranges, Resolution and Accuracy

Specifications apply at 23 ± 5 °C. Ranges are selected automatically.

Lux

Range Display Resolution Accuracy
2,000 lux 0 to 1,999 lux 1 lux ± (5% + 4 lux)
20,000 lux 2,000 to 19,990 lux 10 lux ± (5% + 40 lux)
50,000 lux 20,000 to 50,000 lux 100 lux ± (5% + 400 lux)

Foot-Candles

Range Display Resolution Accuracy
200 Ft-cd 0 to 199.9 Ft-cd 0.1 Ft-cd ± (5% + 0.4 Ft-cd)
2,000 Ft-cd 200 to 1,999 Ft-cd 1 Ft-cd ± (5% + 4 Ft-cd)
5,000 Ft-cd 2,000 to 5,000 Ft-cd 10 Ft-cd ± (5% + 40 Ft-cd)

One foot-candle is approximately 10.76 lux.

Accessories Included

  • Light probe.
  • Instruction manual.

Optional Components

Lutron Calibration Certificate
Lutron Certificate of Calibration Lutron Instruments & Solutions arrive brand new from Lutron with this factory calibration certificate enclosed. Until our chain of custody is broken we are certain and guaranty that every meter meets this standard at the time of shipment. InspectUSA would need to ship the new meter directly to your NIST lab, with our guaranty that it would meet NIST standards. We must ship the instrument direct to an approved NIST lab for this guaranty to be applicable. Once the chain of custody is broken for whatever reason, this guaranty is no longer valid.
