Retrofit Floor Drain Seal (28009) Dranjer FR2

The F-Series Dranjer products are designed to be used in homes where sub-slab ventilation has been included as a radon mitigation technique. These valves will not open at less than 0.9" of negative pressure yet allow for water flow. FR2 has a flexible flange for retrofit in 2" to 8" drains. The flexible rubber flange attaches to the hard plastic portion of the seal. Ring seal is comprised of zinc alloy, and will not rust. Dranjer seals permit unrestricted flow of water into floor drains or sump pits while sealing out the entry of mold spores, insects, radon and other gases from the sub-slab floor area. FR2 is a retrofit model designed for floor drains.

Instructions:

The Dranjer is placed under the existing floor drain cover plate. The cover plate is then replaced. The Dranjer FR2 fits floor drains from 2 to 8 inches in diameter. To Install the Dranjer FR2

  1. Remove the floor drain cover plate from the drain opening.
  2. Clean the rim of the opening.
  3. Lay a bead of caulking compound around the rim of the hole, as shown in Figure 1.
  4. Hold the Dranjer and the cover plate together so the centers are aligned and the cover plate on top, as shown in Figures 2 and 3. Allow enough slack in the rubber flange of the Dranjer so it hangs down about 1/2 inch.
  5. Lower the Dranjer and the cover plate back into the hole. Push the floor drain cover plate back into position, pinching the rubber flange of the Dranjer underneath as it is shown in Figure 4.
  6. Apply pressure to the cover plate to set it firmly.
  7. Trim off the surplus rubber around the edge of the flange with a knife. Leave tabs to facilitate removal.
  8. Leave a heavy weight on the floor drain cover plate until the caulking compound has dried.
  9. Pour about one pint of water into the drain to fill the Dranjer.
