Lutron MS-7012SD Moisture Content Meter with Data Logging, 5% to 95% RH, 15" Stainless Steel Probe
The Lutron MS-7012SD measures moisture content as relative humidity from inside a bale, bag or pile, using a heavy duty stainless steel probe. It works differently from a conventional moisture meter. A pin-type moisture meter reads the electrical resistance between two contacts at the exact spot the pins touch — useful for spot checking a board or a surface, but it tells you nothing about conditions in the middle of a bale or a sack. For baled and bulk materials, the relative humidity of the air inside the material is the honest measure, and for some materials it is the only practical one.
Alongside moisture content the meter reads temperature, dew point and wet bulb, and accepts a Type K or Type J thermocouple probe for a separate temperature channel. Readings can be logged to an optional SD card with a date and time stamp and opened directly in Excel.
NOTE: This meter measures the relative humidity inside a bale, bag or container of hemp, hay, straw, grain, corn, rice, cotton, tobacco, paper, soil, compost and similar materials. The probe will be damaged if it is immersed in liquid or pushed into extremely saturated material.
Typical Applications
- Hemp — checking bales, totes and bulk biomass in storage and before shipping.
- Hay, straw and forage — monitoring bales in the stack, where heating from trapped moisture is the concern.
- Grain, corn and rice — bins, sacks and totes.
- Cotton, tobacco and other baled fiber and leaf.
- Paper and pulp in roll or bale form.
- Soil, compost and growing media.
- Plastic pellets and other granular material stored in containers.
Features
- Professional humidity content probe with a heavy duty stainless steel body, for measuring moisture inside the material rather than at its surface.
- Four measurements in one meter: humidity/temperature, dew point, wet bulb, and Type K/J thermocouple temperature.
- Fast humidity measuring response time.
- Automatic temperature compensation for both the humidity function and the Type K/J thermometer.
- Real time SD memory card data logger with built-in clock and calendar. Sampling time is settable from 1 to 3,600 seconds.
- Manual data logging by setting the sampling time to 0 seconds, with a selectable location number from 1 to 99 to identify each reading.
- Saved data carries the year, month, date, hour, minute and second, and opens directly in Excel — no additional software required.
- Data hold, plus maximum and minimum recording with recall.
- Auto power off, which can be disabled.
- Large LCD with green back light for reading in dim conditions.
- Foldout easel stand and threaded tripod mount on the back of the meter.
- Microcomputer circuit for high accuracy.
- RS-232/USB computer interface.
- Replaceable sensing head with inner filter, so the probe can be serviced rather than replaced.
