Lutron UVA-365SD UVA Light Meter, 365 nm Long Wave, with SD Card Data Logging
The Lutron UVA-365SD measures long wave ultraviolet irradiance with peak response at 365 nm — the wavelength of blacklights, curing lamps and inspection lamps. Two ranges cover up to 1.999 mW/cm² at 0.001 resolution and up to 19.99 mW/cm² at 0.01 resolution, which spans a modest inspection lamp through a production curing head.
Readings log to an SD card with a date and time stamp at intervals from 1 second to 1 hour, and open directly in Excel with no software to install. That turns a spot check into a record — which is what you need when lamp output has to be documented over time rather than simply observed, or when a curing process has to be shown to have been within specification.
The sensor is on a separate corded probe with a cosine correction filter and a metallic housing, so it can be laid on a cure bed, set at a work plane or reached into an exposure unit while the display is read from a safe distance. The meter also accepts a Type K or Type J thermocouple for a separate temperature channel, useful because UVA lamp output and lamp temperature are related.
Ultraviolet light injures eyes and skin, and the damage gives no warning while it is happening — symptoms appear hours later. Never look at an energized UV lamp. Wear UV rated eye protection, cover exposed skin, and use the separate probe so the sensor is in the beam and you are not.
NOTE: This is a long wave UVA meter. Germicidal lamps used for disinfection emit at 254 nm, outside this meter's response, so the UVA-365SD is not suitable for verifying germicidal UVC output. For 254 nm work use a UVC meter, or the YK-37UVSD, which covers both bands.
Typical Applications
- Curing of inks, adhesives and coatings — verifying lamp output before a run and logging it through production.
- Conveyor curing lines, where the probe travels with the work and the logged maximum is the peak irradiance the part received.
- Photoresist exposure and graphic arts platemaking.
- Blacklight and inspection lamp output checks, including magnetic particle and dye penetrant inspection.
- Photochemical matching.
- Weathering and degradation test chambers, where logging over days is the point.
- EPROM erasure equipment.
- Monitoring ultraviolet radiation hazards around welding operations.
- Tanning equipment output verification.
- Lamp replacement scheduling, based on measured output rather than running hours.
- Forensic and document examination lamps.

UVA Light Measurement
Specifications apply at 23 ± 5 °C. Calibration is performed under UVA light against a standard UVA meter. Note that 1 mW equals 1 mJ per second.
